Justice for Aubrey McKay – Stop the Torture
By: UPROAR Admin · June 11, 2025
We shouldn’t have to post this.
Justice for Aubrey McKay demands our collective action. On June 4, 2025, Aubrey McKay died inside Wallens Ridge State Prison—reportedly beaten by correctional officers and left in ambulatory restraints. He never walked out. Now his family is trying to raise enough money to cover his funeral and services.
We are heartbroken. We are furious. And we are determined to make sure Aubrey’s death does not disappear into silence.
Aubrey had a mother. A father. A child. A whole family that loved him deeply. His death is not just a tragedy—it is an injustice that demands a response from all of us.
🕯️ Please keep his loved ones—especially his mother Stacey, his child, his siblings, and his community—in your deepest prayers. And if you can, help carry some of this weight with them.
This is not an isolated tragedy—it comes amid a documented wave of abuse at Wallens Ridge: a man set himself on fire in May. Others report being maced, beaten while cuffed, and denied medical care. And Red Onion State Prison, just down the road, is facing similar accusations.
This is a systemic pattern across Virginia’s prison system. We are demanding full, public investigations into:
- ✅ The death of Aubrey McKay
- ✅ Self-immolation and beatings at Wallens Ridge
- ✅ Retaliatory transfers, coercive “safety agreements,” and medical neglect at Red Onion and across VADOC
💸 Donate to Aubrey’s Family
The GoFundMe linked in the button below is the only verified fundraiser for his family’s funeral and transport costs:
Hello, my name is Candra. A lot of y’all know me by Tazz! It’s with a heavy heart that I even have to be doing this. My sister Stacey Carter’s worst nightmare as a parent happened today. She received a phone call that my nephew (Aubrey) was found deceased while incarcerated.
I know times are hard for everyone, but if possible, please give a dollar. Everything helps. If possible, please keep his mom, dad, son, siblings, a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents in your deepest prayers….We appreciate anything and everything at this time! And this will be the only GoFundMe for him! Any other ones will be fake.
