At ~1:30 a.m. on Sept 6, an older woman and a Hispanic male officer entered the cell of Kenneth Evans (#1446064), where he is housed with Kevelin Dontae Sears (#1198099). The male officer held mace. Staff claimed to be looking for a “stinger.” believes this was a setup to provoke a reaction and fabricate an assault charge. Kevelin is a first-hand witness to this incident and the surrounding threats/conditions.

This followed weeks of pod-wide lockdowns (25–60 days) after self-harm events by others, a full kiosk/email shutdown for their building, and forged TB test entries after missed reads (7/28 test; 8/1, 8/4, 8/8 no-shows). Mr. Evans reports nurses Taylor & Robinson and Officer Mallory threatened charges for filing grievances. Both men report fear of escalating retaliation.

Immediate need: Transfer both Evans and Sears together to a safe Level-3 facility in the Central/Eastern region (preferably Lawrenceville or Buckingham) or, if separated, ensure each is placed where they are not in reach of the same retaliating staff. Restore communications and end collective punishment.

  • Sept 8, 2025: Multiple men in C-2 set themselves and their mattresses on fire at about 10:30 AM and again at 3:30 PM.
  • Sept 9 (morning): Another attempt occurred; alarms triggered and movement was curtailed.
  • Lockdown response: reports the administration then announced a 60-day lockdown of C-2 in response to the fires.
  • Communications blackout: During/after the incidents, the building was locked down and phones/kiosks were cut so “nobody could get on the phone or report it.”

Yesterday, c2 burned their cells up to get up off here because the crisis, they put them on lock for 60 days. For 60 days, a whole pod or not, for something that two people did. That’s crazy. Man, No, Sir. Interviewer: Did they set themselves on fire, or just their cell? Did they set them themselves on fire? Or just like the things in the pod? : they set themselves and their cells on Fire. Do you know? Do you fire? They set the mattresses on fire and were standing on top of the mattresses burning. Interviewer: What cell was that? : I don’t know what cell they was in. I don’t know what cell, but I know it was c2, I’m in c1. Interviewer: That was yesterday? : That was yesterday, yesterday at 1030 in the morning. Then they did it again at 330 then they tried to do it this morning. So we couldn’t come out for real, real but they tried to do it this morning. The alarm went off, and they closed off real quick. But the officer came in here with, you know how you spread a fire extinguisher all over his shoes and pants all that, like the major, all them was in here. They just came here to make sure everybody locked down. They want no urgency to that. They all they did was lock the whole building in, so couldn’t nobody get on the phone, so couldn’t nobody report it. Man, these people are unsafe. At this point. All they’re trying to do is protect their jobs. They don’t care about safety. At this point, it’s not about public safety, no more. They don’t care about that, its, about their jobs.
